Sweet Cream Cornbread Recipe

Ingredients

  • Cornbread:
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • teaspoon salt
  • 1 ½ cups heavy cream
  • 1 egg
  • cup vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 15 oz creamed corn blended
  • Glaze:
  • cup honey
  • 3 tablespoons melted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F. Grease a 9x9 baking dish.
  2. Mix cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together cream, egg, oil, vanilla, and blended creamed corn.
  4. Fold dry ingredients into wet ingredients until just combined.
  5. Pour batter into pan and bake 25–30 minutes.
  6. Stir honey and butter together, then glaze cornbread during last 5 minutes of baking.
  7. Let cool slightly, slice, and serve.
